I discovered this past weekend that a dear and reliable friend of mine died, just when I needed him the most. He was another causality of being out of date in a techno-connected world. I am of course talking about Popcorn, the time announcing service. When one needed the time you would call 767-2676 (aka popcorn) and you would be greeted with a sweet voice that would tell you the time including the exact seconds than thank you for calling. I guess in this new world of cell phones and computers that it was determine that Popcorn was no longer needed and killed off on Sept 19, 2007. Well, rest in peace Popcorn. You will be remembered fondly. And if I am right that after this past weekend of huge power outages that there will be many like me that are just learning of your death and mourning you.
